So, fasten your seatbelts, let’s do the cha-cha and tour the beautiful green city of Tagum.
The city of Tagum has a total land area of 19,580 hectares. Tagum City was then Magugpo which was derived from the native word mago, a name of a tree, and ugpo which means “very high”. Tagum City was then inhabited by the Mansakas, Manguangas, Mandayas, and the Kalagans. They were occupying a river basin inside the thickly covered forest where they could not even see the sun. As time goes by, Tagum City was declared to be municipality by virtue of Executive Order No. 452 by the Commonwealth President Manuel L. Quezon. On the year 1994, Tagum City became a First Class Municipality. Last March 7, 1998, Tagum city was ratified, as a Component City of Davao del Norte. Last February 21, 2006, Tagum city was reclassified from Third class to First class Component city.
Tagum City is known to be the Palm City of the Philippines and the Music Capital of Mindanao. Tagum City is one of the fast progressive cities here in the Philippines. The city offers a whole year getaways and celebrations for you to come and enjoy.
Musikahan, a musical event celebrated in the month of February in which various music and culture are being exposed and participated by distinct schools, barangays, and cities in national or can also be international performers. The Binuhat festival celebrated in the month of July designed for all the gays from any point of Mindanao.
One of the most highlighted festivals of Tagum is the Durian Festival. It is a month-long celebration celebrated in the mid-week of August until mid-week of September. This showcases the different styles and ways of cooking with durian as the main ingredient. The city will also treat fellow Tagumenios and tourists to taste different varieties of Durian at low cost ranging 40-60 pesos. You would never ever crave for other places, here in Tagum; all in one.
Staying here in Tagum is a great experience. You can stroll and take some walks with your friends and family at the Freedom Park, the New City hall, and other beautiful spots all-around Tagum. After the tireful but enjoyable strolling in daytime, you can visit and take a break at the Freedom Park; taste the unique blends of “kwek-kwek” and “takuyaki”. Try way of eating called “duko-duko”. It is a food sect that is set up on metro Tagum’s main streets. Line of barbeque stalls are there and a variety of delectable and affordable marinated pork, chicken, and fish to pick from that’s ready to be grilled.

Tagum City by Abdul, Arianne Gel M.

This is the first time I try to create a travel blog. My first travel blog is Tagum City. Tagum City has so many tourist spots. Tagum City is located on the northern shoreline of Davao Gulf in Southern Mindanao Island. Tagum City has 23 barangays covering an land area of 195.8 square kilometers. Among the three cities of Davao del Norte, Tagum City is the largest term of population.

New Cathedral Christ the King – In this new Cathedral here you can see the World’s Largest Rosary. Weighing 2,815 kilos, this rosary at the Christ the King Cathedral in City of Tagum, Davao del Norte, Island Mindanao, Philippines, could make it to the Guinness Book of World Records as the Largest Roman Catholic Rosary in the whole world.

Banana Festival – The festival feature street dancing and an agri trade fair to highlight Davao del Norte as a “banana country”. Banana is the largest economic contribution for the province and the festival pays tribute to its abundance in the area.

Banana Beach – the highlight of the resort was fairly good but nothing spectacular. The spot offered fishing at a stocked lake with a rod available for a reasonable P100 rental fee. The milk fish were plentiful. The jungle forest tour includes walking through the trees on swaying suspension bridges and exploring at ground level. There is macaque monkeys and wild boar on the road leading to the jungle tour. The weak spot of the resort is the beach. It lies just beyond the pool past a grassy lawn.

Energy Park – currently, 3 offices are already operational, namely: BFAD Satellite Laboratory for Mindanao, DepEd Tagum City Division and TESDA Provincial Training Center, while the satellite offices of PAG_IBIG, GSIS and Phil Health will soon be established. A camping site as well as an area for agriculture with facilities such as plant nursery, hydrophonics and laboratory for soil and leaf has been integrated to ensure efficiency and create a service-oriented and innovative center for excellence.

A Paradise in Pindasan: Bern Berioso Beach by: Sanrie Lagarto

Every now and then we often looked for certain place where we can hold a special occasion or event, such as birthday, wedding resection, and reunion or even just simple hangouts with our love once. A place where we can feel that we are very close to nature and where we can breathe a fresh air.
Pindasan are known mostly by all the people of mabini as a beach place. Pindasan are indeed abundant of beaches, but there is one beach resort that catches my attention. When I heard people talking about this beach I usually didn’t believe on what they been saying because people sometimes exaggerating on something just to make someone believe on then. But my thought about this beach change when I saw it with my own eyes, for it was as beautiful as what people are talking about.
I was just 17 years old when I first lay my eyes on that beach, yet I was amazed on its beauty. I was referring to the Bern Berioso Beach Resort. I was just a new beach resort there. The Bern Berioso Beach opened just last 2007 and for almost five years of their operation they already catch a lot of visitors. The Bern Berioso Beach Resort was named after the owner Bernard Berioso.

Every year Berioso attracts visitors as many as other beaches in Pindasan have. The beautiful sea in Berioso will always catch the attention of the tourist. But aside for the sea water Berioso also has other attraction such us swimming pool for children vedioke corner. One that really catches my attention in this beach was the cute tree house near the sea wall and the floating cottage the resort has. They also have a room for those who want to stay there for the night.

The Bern Berioso is indeed beautiful yet the price of the beach is very much affordable. If you want to visit Berioso in morning you will just pay for the cottage you will used for your stay and there will be no entrance fee. The prices of the cottages depend on how large of small it is. The lessee’s prices are 300 pesos while the most expensive is 900 pesos. However if you want to visit Bern Berioso at night and have a night swimming or overnight stay from six in the evening to six in the morning you will just pay 45 pesos per head for the entrance fee but you can stay in any cottages you want to for free, as in free charges for the cottages for over night. Isn’t it nice?
How to get there? If you were from the heart of Davao City and using a private transport you will reach the resort for about three hour of ride. Before you can reached Pidasn you can past by the City of Tagum, Maco and Mabini the municipality of Pindasan, then you will headed next to Pindasan, from Crossing Pidasan you will see a sign board that point the resort. It’s a bit a long ride if you’re from Davao but it was worth it because you can be able to see one of the beautiful beaches in Pindasan.

The location of the falls is ideal for trekking, offering a challenge for hikers to conquer all seven falls. There were tour guides who will accommodate you as you begin to venture the said falls.

According to legend, women are not allowed to venture alone in the latter. It is said that, if a woman bathes in the water, an enchanted prince would show up and invite her to be his wife. The prince is said to take women to his world.

Moreover, the said falls can take away your grievances and stress from the city. The whole vicinity of the falls was surrounded of huge trees which make the water become cooler. You will also be amazed by its crystal water which allows you to take a glimpse of some water creatures.
